Brooklyn Nets vs. Denver Nuggets Post Game Recap

Final Score: Nets 87 Nuggets 109

The Brooklyn Nets, who were playing very well on their circus road-trip, ran into a buzz kill in the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets blew the Nets out of the gym, as Denver’s home court is a place where nobody wants to play, as they have now won 18 straight games in the Pepsi Center.

Positives:

- Power Forward Reggie Evans had his second straight very good game, as it is very apparent that Evans is playing much more aggressive on the offensive end of the court. Evans had his second straight game with a double-double, as he scored 15 points on five for seven shooting, and also grabbed 16 rebounds, seven of which were on the offensive end.

- The bench unit didn’t play very well as a whole, but did see a good performance in the loss from Andray Blatche. Off the bench Blatche was the highest scorer, as he had 16 points on eight for 11 shooting to go along with five rebounds, three blocks, and two steals in 22 minutes.

Negatives:

- Against the very deep Nuggets frontcourt Nets All-Star Center Brook Lopez struggled against Kosta Koufos and JaVale McGee. Lopez finished a disappointing game with just 11 points on four for 15 shooting, and shot very poorly from the foul line, only going three for nine.

- Keith Bogans was in the starting lineup yet again for the injured Joe Johnson, but unlike the last few games where Bogans shot the ball very well from three-point land, unfortunately that wasn’t the case against the Nuggets. In 20 minutes Bogans went zero for five from behind the three-point line, and zero for six overall, as he was held scoreless in the game.

- The Nuggets bench absolutely destroyed the Nets, as the Nuggets showed off their endless depth in the win. The bench unit for Denver combined for 50 points, with young Guard Evan Fournier leading the way with 19 points on six for nine shooting. Fournier wasn’t alone on the bench with a good scoring game, as Wilson Chandler added 16 points on four for eight shooting. Corey Brewer also chipped in with 13 points on five for nine shooting, as the bench production as it is most of the time was excellent for Denver.

- The pace was a big factor in this game, as it’s no secret that Denver likes to get out and run on their home court in the thin air of Denver, and that’s exactly what they were able to do against the Nets. The Nets, who are one of the slower teams in the NBA pace wise were outscored horribly on the fast break 26-2, which makes it very hard to stay competitive.

The Nets won’t have much time to rest from the blowout in Denver, as they will be heading to Utah to play the Jazz on Saturday night.
