W2W4: Buffalo Bills vs New York Jets
The New York Jets will be playing their
division opponent the Buffalo Bills for the first time this season,
with both teams coming into the game with a (1-1) record, and both
have lost to the New England Patriots in close games for each team.
- Rookie Quarterbacks
This game will probably come down to
the battle of rookie Quarterbacks, as E.J. Manuel will be facing off
against Geno Smith. Even though it is only two games through the
season so far, Manuel has the edge over Smith so far, as in his two
games Manuel has been pretty good throwing for 446 yards on 68%
passing, to go along with three touchdowns passes. Smith has fared as
well as Manuel, as in Smith's two games hes thrown for 470 yards on
53% passing, with one touchdown and four interceptions. Protecting
the ball has been done much better so far by Manuel compared to
Smith, as Manuel has just two turnovers, and Smith has five so far.
- Mario
The Jets offense line is going to have
its hands full on Sunday afternoon, as Defensive End Mario Williams,
who is coming off and awful season, looks to be back to wrecking
havoc in 2013. In Week 2 against the Carolina Panthers, Williams had
4.5 sacks against Cam Newton, which earned him rightfully the AFC
Defensive POTW Award. The 100 million dollar man was held in check by
the Jets last year, as in two games he had zero sacks, but this seems
to be a motivated and focused Williams heading into Week 3.
- Old Friends
In Week 3 their will be a battle on the
sidelines between two friends in Rex Ryan, and his friend and Jets
former Defensive Coordinator Mike Pettine. In hopes of one day
becoming a Head Coach in the NFL, Pettine thought it would be best to
move on from being in the shadow of Rex Ryan, and took the job in
Buffalo as their Defensive Coordinator. It will be and interesting
chess match to see Pettine and Ryan going at it, as they have been
together for 11 years, which makes it safe to assume the two should
know a bit of what the other is going to want to do in the game.
- Debut of Coples?
The Jets will hope to be getting their
Linebacker/Defensive End Quinton Coples back in the lineup about a
month after suffering a fracture in his ankle. Coples was the Jets
First Round pick in 2012, and was their sack-leader last season with
5.5. If Coples can go he will certainly be on some sort a snaps
limit, but if hes able to go look for him to be trying to get in the
backfield to bother Manuel.
