Chicago White Sox vs. New York Yankees Post Game Recap

Final Score: White Sox 1 Yankees 9

The New York Yankees were able to pull out the win on Labor Day against the Chicago White Sox despite a lengthy rain delay. The win puts the Yankees at (73-64), which are 2.5 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays for the second Wild Card spot.

After an almost two-hour rain delay both Starters for each team didn’t come back to the mound once the game was finally resumed. Unfortunately for Jose Quintana the first inning run he allowed on a base-hit by Derek Jeter gave him his fifth loss of the season.

David Huff came in relief of Phil Hughes for the Yankees, and really shined earning his second win of the season. Huff went 5.2 innings allowing just one run on five hits in the win. The one mistake by Huff came in the seventh inning, when Paul Konerko hit a solo-home run, which was his 10th of the season, and the only run the white Sox would score on Monday.

New York Yankees vs Texas Rangers Post Game Recap

Final Score: Yankees 5 Rangers 4

The New York Yankees were able to snap their two-game skid on Tuesday night against the Texas Rangers, as they had the come from behind win after giving up a nice lead in the sixth inning. The win moves the Yankees to (53-47), which keeps them seven games behind the first place Boston Red Sox.

Rangers Starter Alexi Ogando didn’t have a very good start against a sub-par Yankees offense, but he didn’t factor in the decision of the game. The Yankees got to Ogando in the third inning, as Austin Romine doubled home Melky Mesa for the first run of the game. Romine would come around to the second run of the inning on an Ichiro Suzuki infield single. The final run off Ogando would come in the fourth inning, as Brent Lillibridge grounded into a fielders choice that score Vernon Wells. Ogando ended up going just five innings allowing three runs on six hits.

Seattle Mariners vs New York Yankees

Final Score: Mariners 3 Yankees 2

The New York Yankees were unable to win the rubber game of their series with the Seattle Mariners, as the offense was not very good at all during the three game stretch. The loss moves the Yankees to (25-16) on the season, but they still hold a one game lead in the AL East.

Andy Pettitte is now the latest Yankee to be hit with the injury bug, as he was forced to leave the game in the fifth inning due to discomfort in his left trapezius. Pettitte picked up his third loss of the season, as he went 4.2 innings allowing two runs on four hits, and three walks. If Pettitte is forced to miss his next start Joe Girardi will probably have to go with Adam Warren or Ivan Nova if hes healthy.

New York Yankees vs. Cleveland Indians Game 2 Recap

Final Score: Yankees 7 Indians 0

In the old school traditional doubleheader after about a 20 minute break in between games, the Yankees were able to bounce back from being shutout in Game 1. In Game 2 the Yankees got their revenge from being shutout, by shutting out the Indians to split the doubleheader, and move to (24-14) on the season.

Vidal Nuno made his first career start in Game 2, and was sensational for the Yankees. Nuno picked up his first career win, by going five innings, while allowing three hits, three walks, and mostly importantly zero runs.

Adam Warren was very good as well pitching the final four innings for the Yankees after Nuno was taken out. Warren went four innings allowing only two hits, zero runs, and was able to strikeout four batters. Warren also was able to earn his first save of the season with the unconventional four inning save.

Houston Astros vs. New York Yankees Post Game Recap

Final Score: Astros 9 Yankees 1

The New York Yankees coming off a four game sweep against the Toronto Blue Jays may have over looked the Astros on Monday night, and paid dearly. The Astros beat up the Yankees pretty good in the Bronx, and with the loss the Yankees four game winning streak was snapped.

Yankees Starter Andy Pettitte got roughed up in this game, as he suffered his second straight loss, and is now (3-2) on the season with a 3.86 ERA. Pettitte lasted just 4.1 innings allowing seven runs on 10 hits with one walk. Pettitte just didn’t have it in this start, as it was the most runs he’s allowed in a game since 2008.

The Yankees did get a good first appearance from Vidal Nuno making his MLB debut in mop up duty. Nuno went the final three innings for the Yankees, and didn’t allow a run, with only four hits against him. For Nuno it was a pretty impressive debut in pinstripes.
