Pregame: New York Mets at Philadelphia Phillies 4/9

The Mets (5-2) will look to take their third straight series to start the season they battle the Philadelphia Phillies in game two of this three game series. Last night in game one the Mets scored seven runs and Matt Harvey looked impressive as the Mets won 7-2.

Pitching Matchup: Dillon Gee (0-1 1.42 ERA) will be on the mound for the Mets. Gee was a tough luck loser in his first start of the season as we pitched 6.1 innings while only giving up three hits. Gee did however walk three and hit an additional batter. He doesn’t have the over powering lights out stuff that Matt Harvey has so location will be the key to Gee’s success tonight. Gee owns a 2-1 against the Phillies in his career, but the Phillies have lit him up to a 6.46 ERA in 30.2 innings. Gee has struck out 20 batters in that time.

Former Cy Young award winner and All-Star Cliff Lee (1-0 0.00 ERA) will be starting for the Phillies tonight. Lee was phenomenal in his first start of the year going 8 innings, striking out 8 and allowing two runners to reach base, both via hits. Lee will be looking to keep his momentum gained from his first start. In the last 10 years Lee owns a very respectable stat line against the Mets with a 4-1 record and a 2.09 ERA with a 60K in 60 innings.
