Baltimore Orioles vs. New York Yankees Post Game Recap

Final Score: Orioles 2 Yankees 5

After two straight days of games postponed due to rain in Cleveland against the Indians, the Yankees returned home to play the Baltimore Orioles, and were able to keep up their winning ways, as the Yankees four game winning streak has put the them over .500 for the first time this season at (5-4).

For the second straight start Yankees Ace C.C Sabathia looked very good, as he picked up his second win of the season. Sabathia went eight strong innings allowing only one earned run on eight hits, and one walk, while striking out nine batters. Mariano Rivera came in to pitch the final inning to lock up the win for Sabathia, and it went rather smoothly for the Sandman, as he only gave up one hit in his inning of work.

The Yankees offense wasn’t great in the win on Friday, but probably their best two hitters in Robinson Cano and Kevin Youkilis were just that in the win. Youkilis went a perfect three for three at the plate, with a walk, run scored, and his seventh RBI of the season. Cano wasn’t perfect at the plate, but he did have a multi-hit game going two for four, with a RBI, which gives him eight now on the season.

The beginning of the season has been extremely tough on Eduardo Nunez, who had to miss some time after being hit by a pitch in Detroit got hit again on Friday, and was forced to leave the game. This time Nunez was hit on the wrist, and X-Rays have come back negative, and it is being called a contusion, but it would seem likely that Nunez may miss a few games.

The early part of the season hasn’t been kind to Ichiro Suzuki either, as another tough game for the Yankees Outfielder has dropped his batting average to .161 after a zero for four game at the plate.

Yankees will be back in action for the second game of the series against the Orioles on Saturday afternoon, as Phil Hughes (0-1, 6.75 ERA) will be facing Jason Hammel (1-1, 4.97 ERA).
