The New York Yankees had the tough task of traveling to the West Coast without getting an off-day, as on Monday the Yankees offense and bullpen looked like they forgot to make the trip to Los Angeles. The loss to the Angels moves the Yankees to percentage points behind the Baltimore Orioles in the AL East with a (16-15) record.

Getting his first start of the season, David Phelps was very good for the Yankees, even though he didn’t factor in the decision. Phelps went 5.1 innings allowing just one run on three hits and one walk, while throwing 87 pitches. The only problem Phelps had was in the fifth inning, as Ian Stewart was have an RBI ground-out.

Angels Starter Jered Weaver was fantastic against the Yankees, as he shutdown their offense and deserving picked up his third win of the season. Weaver went eight innings allowing just one run one six hits, one walk, and struck out seven batters.

Tampa Bay Rays vs New York Yankees Post Game Recap

The New York Yankees playoffs hopes took yet another blow, as their loss on Monday to the Tampa Bay Rays basically ended their chances of making the playoffs unless something crazy happens. The loss moves them to (82-75), which is five games behind the Cleveland Indians for the final playoff spot.

Hiroki Kuroda's last two months of the season has been a tough one, and on Tuesday night it was another bad start for Kuroda, as he picked up his 13^th loss of the season. The first inning was a tough one for Kuroda, as lead-off hitter Matt Joyce hit a solo-home run to get the Rays on the board. Later in the inning the Rays would tack on two more runs on a David DeJesus double that score Wil Myers, and then Evan Longoria hit a sac-fly to score DeJesus to make it a three-run first inning. In the sixth inning the Rays would get their final two runs off of Kuroda, as with the bases loaded James Loney hit a double to score Myers and Longoria to make it a 5-0 game. Kuroda finished going 5.2 innings allowing five runs on five hits and two walks.

New York Yankees vs Toronto Blue Jays Post Game Recap

The New York Yankees lost their fourth straight game on Tuesday night, this time at the hands of the last place Toronto Blue Jays. The loss moves the Yankees to (79-72) on the season, which is 3.5 games behind the two Wild Card spots.

Andy Pettitte came through with a yet another good start for the Yankees, but with zero run support, he picked up his 10^th loss of the season. Pettitte would make only one mistake in this game, that coming in the fourth inning, as Colby Rasmus hit a solo-home run, which broke the scoreless game up, and was his 21^st home run of the season. Pettitte would finish going 6.2 innings allowing just the one run on six hits and two walks.

Toronto Blue Jays vs New York Yankees Post Game Recap

The New York Yankees were able to pick up the win after a three hour rain delay on Thursday afternoon, as they completed the four-game sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays. The win moves the Yankees to (68-59), which is six games behind the Boston Red Sox for the AL East, but now just 3.5 games behind the two Wild Card spots.

Andy Pettitte made his second straight very good start for the Yankees on Thursday, as he picked up his ninth win of the season. Pettitte went six innings allowing just one run on four hits and three walks. The only mistake by Pettitte came in the fifth inning, as Blue Jays Catcher J.P. Arencibia hit a solo-home run, which was his 19^th of the year, and was the first run for either team in the game.

New York Yankees vs Los Angeles Dodgers Post Game Recap

Final Score: Yankees 2 Dodgers 3

The New York Yankees eight-game road-trip got off to a rough start in Los Angeles, as they lost to the Dodgers in heart breaking fashion. The loss moves the Yankees to (55-51) on the season, and they are now 8.5 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays for first place in the AL East.

Andy Pettitte gave the Yankees a second very good start, but despite pitching well he didn’t factor in the decision of this game. Pettitte only made a few mistakes on Tuesday night in the early innings, as in the first inning Hanley Ramirez hit a base-hit to score Yasiel Puig. In the second inning the Dodgers got their final run off of Pettitte, as Juan Uribe hit a solo-home run, which was his sixth of the season. Pettitte finished up going seven innings allowing just the two runs on eight hits, and zero walks, in what was another good start from the veteran lefty.

New York Yankees vs Texas Rangers Post Game Recap

Final Score: Yankees 1 Rangers 3

After a great come from behind win on Tuesday night the New York Yankees offense was shutdown on Wednesday in the loss to the Texas Rangers. The loss moves the Yankees to (53-48) on the season, and with the Boston Red Sox losing the Yankees stay at seven games behind them.

Andy Pettitte gave the Yankees a very good start, but like so many times this season the Yankees offense couldn’t help a Yankees Starter get a win, and for Pettitte he got his eighth loss of the season. The Rangers got to Pettitte in the first inning, as A.J. Pierzynski had a RBI single to score Ian Kinsler for the first run of the game. Pierzynski would get the best of Pettitte again in the sixth inning for the Rangers final run off the lefty, as Pierzynski hit a solo-home run, which was his 10^th of the season.

Cleveland Indians vs New York Yankees

The New York Yankees were able to bounce back from a difficult week against the New York Mets and Boston Red Sox on Monday with a nice 7-4 victory over the Cleveland Indians. The win moves the Yankees to (32-25) o
n the year, and 2.5 games behind the Red Sox for first place in the AL East.

Andy Pettitte made his return to the rotation on Monday, but it didn’t go to smoothly for Pettitte in the no decision. Former Yankee Nick Swisher got a nice ovation in his return to Yankees Stadium, and got the Indians on the board in the third inning with a RBI ground out. The rest of the damage the Indians did to Pettitte came in the fifth inning, when Mike Aviles hit a sac-fly scoring Drew Stubbs, and then later in the inning Carlos Santana hit a ground-rule double scoring Michael Bourn and Nick Swisher. The RBI double by Santana also chased Andy Pettitte from the game, as Pettitte finished going just 4.2 innings allowing four runs on seven hits, and three walks. Pettitte was going for his 250^th win, and was spotted a three-run lead, but he was unable to hold on to it, so he will have to wait for another attempt at win number 250 until later in the week.

New York Mets vs New York Yankees Post Game Recap

Final Score: Mets 3 Yankees 1

The 2013 Subway Series has come to a close with the New York Mets dominating the New York Yankees in the four-game series. With the win on Thursday night the Mets were able to sweep the series against the Yankees for the first time in Subway Series history. Now the New York teams seem to heading in opposite directions with the Mets on a five-game winning streak, and the Yankees on a five-game losing streak.

Vidal Nuno once again pitched very well for the Yankees, but with almost no run support he picked up his second loss of the season. Nuno went six innings allowing only two runs on three hits and two walks. Nuno's one blemish came in the second inning when Marlon Byrd hit and absolute bomb to left field going about 435 feet. Byrd's two-run homerun scored Lucas Duda, as it was his sixth homerun of the year, and all runs the Mets would need to win the game.

The New York Yankees were unable to win the rubber game of their series with the Seattle Mariners, as the offense was not very good at all during the three game stretch. The loss moves the Yankees to (25-16) on the season, but they still hold a one game lead in the AL East.

Andy Pettitte is now the latest Yankee to be hit with the injury bug, as he was forced to leave the game in the fifth inning due to discomfort in his left trapezius. Pettitte picked up his third loss of the season, as he went 4.2 innings allowing two runs on four hits, and three walks. If Pettitte is forced to miss his next start Joe Girardi will probably have to go with Adam Warren or Ivan Nova if hes healthy.

Seattle Mariners vs. New York Yankees Post Game Recap

After a tough doubleheader in Cleveland the Yankees returned home to face the Seattle Mariners, and were able to keep up the momentum from a win in the Game 2 against the Indians for a come from behind against the Mariners. The win moves the Yankees to (25-14), and places them in first in the AL East, two games ahead of the Baltimore Orioles.

Yankees Starter C.C. Sabathia was out dueled by Felix Hernandez, but with some help from the lineup didn’t get a decision. Sabathia worked in and out of trouble most of the night and didn’t look like his counterpart. He finished going 6.1 innings allowing three runs, two of which were earned runs on 10 hits, and two walks. Bright spot for Sabathia was that he was however able to strikeout 10 batters.

Felix Hernandez is having as good a start to the season as any Pitcher in baseball, but on Tuesday night he was let down by his bullpen. Hernandez went six innings allowing only on run on five hits, and two walks. King Felix was forced to leave the game due to tweaking his back, but he left with the lead before the bullpen imploded.

New York Yankees vs. Kansas City Royals Post Game Recap

Final Score: Yankees 11 Royals 6

The Yankees after a lack of offense in Colorado looked like a completely different team in Kansas City in the win over the Royals, as they scored more runs on Friday night than the entire series in Colorado. The win moves the Yankees to (21-13), and they still hold a slight lead for first place in the AL East.

Phil Hughes was pitching very well coming in to this start, but Friday Hughes wasn’t at his best, but with run support he was able to pick up his second win of the season. Hughes went 5.2 innings allowing six runs on seven hits, and two walks. The long ball hurt Hughes in this one, as he gave up two homeruns to Jarrod Dyson in the second inning, and then Mike Moustakas in the sixth.

Oakland Athletics vs. New York Yankees

Final Score: Athletics 2 Yankees 4

The New York Yankees were able to bounce back nicely after being shutout on Friday night by the Athletics, as the Yankees picked up a win on Saturday afternoon, and moved themselves to (18-11) on the season. The Bronx has been good to the Yankees thus far this season, as they have a (12-6) record at home.

Phil Hughes got the start on Saturday, and had his best outing of the season, while earning his first win of the season. Hughes has been very good lately but factoring in decisions has not happened much until today. Hughes went eight shutout innings only allowing four hits and two walks. The velocity was great for Hughes in this one despite throwing 118 pitches; he was able to get it up to around 95 mph, which helped him strikeout nine batters.

Things got interesting after Hughes left the game however, as Joe Girardi went to Shawn Kelley with a four-run lead, but after a leadoff single, Kelley was pulled for Mariano Rivera. In the non-save situation, Rivera was not as sharp as he has been lately, as he walked a batter and allowed a hit, and the Athletics were able to get two runs in the ninth inning.

Houston Astros vs. New York Yankees Post Game Recap

Final Score: Astros 4 Yankees 7

The New York Yankees were able to bounce back on Tuesday night after an embarrassing loss to one of the worst teams in the majors on Monday night in the Astros. The win now puts the Yankees record at (16-10) for a very successful month of April.

Yankees Starter Hiroki Kuroda was able to finish up a very successful month of April with his fourth win of the season, despite looking very shaky in the first three innings of the game. The Astros had three hits and walked four times in the first three innings, while having a runner reach third base in each inning, but Kuroda was able to wiggle out of trouble, and once the fourth inning hit it was smooth sailing for Kuroda. He finished going seven shutout innings allowing four hits, four walks, and struck out eight batters in the win.

The New York Yankees were able to pick up their second straight win, as they took the series opener in Cleveland, and for the Yankees it is their first winning streak of the season, as their record is now (3-4).

Hiroki Kuroda had a very tough first inning, which led to Manager Joe Girardi to get the bullpen going in the first inning, but Kuroda was able to settle down and get out of the tough inning. After being forced to leave his first start due to getting hit in the hand by a line drive, Kuroda was able to pick up his first win of the season against Cleveland. He finished going 5.1 innings allowing three runs on five hits, and four walks, while striking out six batters.

New York Yankees vs. Detroit Tigers Post Game Recap

Final Score: Yankees 3 Tigers 8

The New York Yankees after picking up their first win of the season on Thursday night against the Red Sox had the tough task of traveling to Detroit, and playing an extremely rare Friday afternoon game, which resulted in the Yankees third loss of the season.

Yankees Starter Ivan Nova looked like the pitcher of the second half of the 2012 season, which is something the Yankees hoped that they wouldn’t be seeing in 2013. Nova was all over the place, as the location of his pitches was a crapshoot all game, and at one point he went to a full count to six straight Tigers batters. Nova due to his ineffectiveness went only 4.2 innings, while allowing four runs on five hits, and two walks.
